Pet Laser Surgery

We’re pleased to offer laser surgery for certain procedures to decrease bleeding, post-incision swelling, and pain. Unlike a traditional scalpel, the surgical laser cauterizes blood vessels and nerve endings to greatly reduce blood loss and discomfort, and results in a shorter, easier recovery for your pet. Surgeries that can benefit from the use of our surgical laser include:

  • Declaws
  • Some skin incisions
  • Mass removals
  • Ablations
  • Certain oral procedures

Surgical Safety for Dogs and Cats

Pre-anesthetic exams and blood work are standard procedure before any surgery, and if we detect an illness or some other problem in your pet that could jeopardize their safety, we will postpone their surgery.

Vets giving a dog an IV

Our surgical suite has the most advanced and reliable anesthetic and monitoring equipment, and IV fluid therapy is utilized during every procedure to maintain blood pressure and hydration levels. An experienced technician is always standing by to monitor your pet’s vitals and make sure they’re comfortable. They’ll be closely monitored throughout their recovery, and you will be notified as soon as your four-legged friend is ready to go home. When you arrive, we’ll sit down with you and discuss what you need to do to see them through their recovery.

While your pet is recovering at home, we encourage you to stay in touch if you have any concerns or questions. Some pets try to chew or lick at their incisions, which can lead to infection or torn sutures that need to be replaced. Never hesitate to reach out to our animal hospital in Texarkana while your pet is recuperating at home. Give us a call at (903) 793-1193 so we can help you!
